Improving Your Technorati Rank - A Few Tips

I started up this blog ten months ago, it took me another two months to actually figure out how to blog. In the last seven months I've figured out how to reach the Top Ten Technorati in a relatively short amount of time. First it was Coffee Break, then Writer's Reviews, and now my brand new blog Totally Fabulous is climbing it's way up on Technorati.

Totally Fabulous
Rank: 91,836

Is it Really Worth it?

It's not as hard as you may think although it does take some effort and determination! So why bother? Here are some of the benefits of being in the top ten K Technorati:

- You are more valuable to advertisers and companies are more likely to choose you to advertise their products or services.

- Advertisers pay much more to bloggers with a higher page rank, and a good Alexa and Technorati ranking.

- Other bloggers are more likely to link to you, review you, and mention you on their blog, and even include you in group blogging projects. Which gives you and your blog added exposure. This exposure will give you the chance to contribute to the blogoshpere in whatever way you desire. You can use your exposure as a blogger to spread the word on important causes or promote your favorite charities for example.

- When you link to others your blog ranking will help their blog ranking, and some bloggers like to use this to their advantage by exchanging links for reviews, and even cash believe it or not.

So how do you get into the top ten k?

Here's a few quick tips, you can also find out some amazing blogging tips at Problogger.net.

Spread Your Creativity Around

- Create your own meme, award badge, or special blogging game to send into the blogoshpere. Come up with something you feel will add value to the blogging community. Whether it's a funny meme, or a meaningful award, be unique, don't try to copy someone's else's idea. Let your idea be something unique that reflects your blogging style.

Be a Good Sport

- Participate in meme's. A lot of bloggers feel that meme's are a nuisance but in my opinion it's an amazing way to get to know others in the blogging community and at the same time give and receive some link love. Each meme and award out here in the blogoshpere took time, energy, creativity, and planning to create. You may not have time to participate in them all, but once in a while couldn't hurt, could it?

Spend Time Networking

- Leave comments on as many blogs as humanly possible, and answer the comments on your own blog. Get discussions going. Go hangout at MyBlogLog or BlogCatalog and meet some people. If you don't know where to start then look for bloggers with the same interests as you and go say hi. You might be surprised to meet a new friend. Not only is it fun to socialize but you will have the chance to network with other bloggers. This will open up a lot of opportunities for you, if you don't believe me, than go make some blogging friends and see for yourself!

Write Well

- Writing quality articles is key. It is the most important thing you can do as a blogger. Do your best to write about interesting topics that will appeal to your audience, you could write about current events or give advice on subjects that you're knowledgeable about, just keep your readers wants and needs in mind. The more often you blog (providing you're using keywords correctly) the more traffic you will drive to your blog. So get writing and whatever you do remember to use spell check!

Good Things Happen To Those Who Wait

- The most important thing is to hang in there, if you're hoping to earn money blogging in the first week, you're going to be disappointed. It takes time, and and rankings and blog earning increase gradually. I've noticed a steady increase in blog earnings with each passing week. So just be patient!

Christy, I love how you write articles on blogging. You're a great writer and teacher, and I can attest to anyone reading this comment that you know what you're talking about.

My technorati ranking is now in the top 20, 000 and I have your teaching and friendship to thank for it. I plan to make an announcement about you when I reached 15,000, or maybe I should wait until ten? LOL!

You mean a lot to me, and the blogosphere as a whole. Thanks for the inspiration, and thanks for this post.

Hi Christy,

I love this post, you definitely could be talking about me when you say "be patient".

No one has ever used my name and patience in the same sentence. I started blogging a bit more than six weeks ago and I'd like to be making $10,000 a week. Mind you, I have no advertisers-LOL!

I hope you don't mind if I visit every now and again. You're my new (s)hero!

Real useful post, Christy. And I'm most definitely patient, so no prob there. But that's not why I'm posting here. I just had to tell you what a cool last name you have! I'm probably completely mispronouncing it, but it is sooo much fun to say out loud! No, really! (FYI I caught it in the copyright line at the end of your post. So don't worry, I'm not stalking you. Well, not much.) :)

Hi M-Princess,

Thank you so much, that is so nice of you! I definitely hope you'll visit again.

Six weeks is so new! Good luck with your blog!:) (and I know it's hard to be patient isn't it? Especially when you're working hard on something).

Hi Jackie,

Thank you!

No problem, I understand, I'll have to come by and see your design changes:)

Hi Steve,

Thank you very much!

I will try to add you. Technorati had a temporary favorites limit, but I haven't tried it out recently to see if it's been lifted yet. If Technorati allows me to add you I will, and thank you for adding me, I appreciate it. :)

Hi Andrew,

LoL, I can't believe you think my last name is cool! It's a Lithuanian name that originated in Greece. Which explains a lot! It's sounds much nicer when it's pronounced in the Lithuanian language where the Z sounds like S.

Feel free to stalk me if you really want to, lol. (Just kidding) Hehe
