Free Blogging Community - Blog and Make Friends

Thoughts.com is a free blogging community for anyone age 14 or older. It's easy to become a member, all that you need to do is create your free account by filling out a short online form at the website and get ready to publish your first post.

With your Thoughts.com blog you'll be able to share your feelings, express your opinion, or just tell others about the day you've had, or even the life you've had!

The best part is you'll have instant readers, because on Thoughts.com the member's blog posts are listed on many different pages of the site. If you're on the shy side you can choose to keep your journal post private or just for your closest friends.

I browsed through some of the different blogs to see what kind of posts members were making and I found some great stuff. Whether you want to share your poetry, your goals, or even just complain, you'll likely find some friends that will be interested in what you have to say, and you can also support other members by leaving them comments on their blog as well.

It's a great place for online social networking, and in addition to having a Free Blog,Thoughts.com also offers community discussion forums where members can get to know one another, and most of all have fun.

Visit www.thoughts.com to explore the blog community and to sign up to get your Free Blog.

Blogger News....

Jos van Liempd's NoDirectOn blog is talking about the cool concept link. His blog is in Dutch but you can get the drift of it by the pictures. When you click on the pictures you never know where the link will take you, now that's a cool concept! If you're not visiting blogs in other languages you're missing out. You'd be surprised how much you can actually understand if you just give it a try.

Another cool blog is Trew Life's advice blog. You'll have fun reading the Trew Life reader's questions and the responses given. If you have a question you can email to Trew Life, another very cool concept for a blog!

I recently found Ink Is It a while back. These guys are absolutely hilarious, for a good laugh you have to go and watch their video, seriously, you don't want to miss this!

Over at thoughtsparks, Phil Stolle wrote a nice post called, Through The Eyes Of A Child, guaranteed to give you the warm fuzzies.

Last but not least if you want to read some crazy news stories take a look at World Bizarre News. It's amazing the freaky stuff that goes on!

That's all for now but I'll be on the hunt for great blogs, interesting posts, and who knows maybe you'll be next....

Blogcatalog vs. Mybloglog

Yesterday I received an email from Blogcatalog informing me that they've created a new online community for bloggers. So I go over to check it out. It doesn't look great but I decide to sign up. I download a picture and it's the teeny tiny kind. The kind of picture that is so small it distorts your image. So I'm thinking "Why am I wasting my time." It's obvious they are trying to copy Mybloglog. They even have the exact same widget so you can see when all of the visitors come. The only difference is it says Blogcatalog at the bottom instead of Mybloglog. The creativity of Blogcatalog is...well...underwhelming.

So as I am leaving I end up on the "Most Searched Words" page, where I see a page filled with absolute smut. I read words like s_x, torture, teen s_x, hot housewives, etc. I found this to be very offensive. So I use the contact address they provide on the site and in the email to try to write to Blogcatalog, but Hotmail says the address is no good. Why am I not surprised. The letter was to ask the Blogcatalog people to get my site off of theirs. I do not want to be a member of such a community. Obviously I am not a big fan of pornography.

I've read a lot of complaints from members of mybloglog about the overly sexual avatars on the site. I agree that some people go way to far....here's a hint...if I'm disgusted by your avatar I'm not going to join your community let alone go check out your site. I don't let this tiny percentage of Mybloglog members bother me, when overall it is the best blogging community ever.

I am usually not one to use my blog for personal complaints, but Blogcatalog really ticked me off, lol.

I'd like to point out that my Technorati rating is 63,000 (and improving every day) without me having a half naked avatar, without me demeaning myself or other women in any way. They say sex sells, but so does good solid content. At least the naked people will have a new place to hang out, which in the end will make it even better for Myblogloggers.

5 Quick Tips On Becoming A Better Blogger

Be Yourself - Don't waste your time trying to copy other bloggers, everyone has their own interests and unique style. Form your blog around what you are passionate about and you will attract others with the same interests. Not only is it difficult to try to emulate others it won't be very much fun either. The best blogs are the ones that are written from the heart. Stick to topics that you love, and have fun.

Content - Whatever topic you choose to write about be sure to consider your readers. Make it interesting and valuable to them. Think about who your audience is and if they would enjoy what you've written. Always take the time to use spell check, and read what you've written outloud to pick up mistakes you might have missed.

Research - Find out everything there is to know about blogging. Every blogger starts from scratch, don't be afraid to venture into new territory and uncover the mysteries of the blogging world.

Make Friends - Communicate with your readers. Answer comments left on your blog, join communities like MyBlogLog, Yahoo or Google Groups. Spend time reading other blogs and leave comments when you like something you've read or if you think their blog is great. Think about how you can help other bloggers before asking them for help. Remember that common courtesy goes a long way. Don't be shy! Become an active member of the blogging community and show everyone what you've got to offer.

Give It Some Time - Let's face it, blogging can be tough. It's a lot of hard work and dedication, and you won't see instant results. But if you hang in there and keep working at it, eventually your readership will grow, and you will reap the rewards of your efforts.
